Authority use forces to threaten and to show the power in Rohingya village for collecting census with Bengali

Maungdaw, Arakan State: The authority sent more security forces- Hluntin, police and Army- with enumerators and supervisors to the Rohingya villages to show the power of authority and threaten the Rohingya to use race in the census forms as Bengali today, said Halim, a Human Rights Watchdog from Maungdaw.

Maungdaw township admin officer threatens the villagers to accept without Rohingya in census process

No wages for Rohingya vehicles for authority requisition in census period

Maungdaw, Arakan state: 15 – vehicles from Maungdaw was requisitioned by local authority to transport census processing groups- Enumerators , Supervisor, Immigration officers, village admin officers and security personnel- to their destination to collect census data which started from March 30 – April 10, yesterday evening, said Dil Mohamed, a driver from Maungdaw.

No Rohingya joins census process for race term “Rohingya”

Maungdaw,Arakan State: The census processing groups – Enumerators , Supervisor, Immigration officers, village admin officers and security personnel- are not allowing the term Rohingya in the column of race, then all the Rohingya community in Maungdaw Township and Buthidaung township stop to join the census process today morning, said Halim, a Human Rights Watchdog from Maungdaw.

1) President U Thein Sein’s led Myanmar quasi-democratic government has arranged systematically everything to collect the coming census along the country with the help of UK, USA,UNFPA, and the combination efforts of all ethnic groups, department staffers and concerned authorities, starting from 30th March 2014. The census movement is particularly aimed to collect the accurate data of the roughly estimated 60 million people of the nation for all round equal development of the social projects in future, in accord the nation’s statement.

Verification of Rohingya in Arakan

Immediately after the two genocidal onslaughts against Rohingya and Kaman Muslims in Rakhine State (Arakan) in June and October 2012, random operations were launched by the immigration authorities, guarded by police and armed forces, to verify the citizenship of the Muslims – to verify who has the right to be a citizen of Myanmar, and who does not. The operations began quietly with no public announcement and the villagers were taken by surprise. They had not been told what the operations were for.
