3 more Bangladeshi fishermen abducted

Teknaf, Bangladesh:  Burma border security force (Nasaka) abducted three more Bangladeshi fishermen along with their boat from the Naf River, under Teknaf police station on July 13 (Saturday) night, said H Kamrul Islam, operation officer of BGB-42 Battalion.
“Nasaka members took away the three fishermen while they were fishing in the river adjacent to Naitang Para area in Teknaf.”

But, the Nasaka was dissolved on July 12 night with ordered of President Thein Sein.But, it still function on the border even they had no power to patrol in the border, said Hasson, a business man from Teknaf.

The abducted fishermen are identified as— Md Zahid, Md Arab and Md Selim. They all belong to Teknaf municipality area, said Abdullah, a relative of the abductees.

With the three, the Nasaka abducted as many as 24 fishermen from the Naf River within a span of 24 hours.

On Friday, Nasaka detained 21 fishermen from the Naf River adjacent to Jalia Para village of Teknaf. Burma’s Nasaka personnel swooped on these fishermen while they were fishing in the afternoon. They all hail from Jaliapara village of Teknaf, according to BGB official.

BGB had strongly protested the incident and sent two letters to Nasaka, urging for a flag meeting, but Burma’s Nasaka force didn’t reply it so far.
