Teknaf, Bangladesh: Ten Rohingyas were arrested and pushed back to Burma by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on July 22, Kamal, a local from Teknaf town said. “They were arrested from the entry point of Jadimora under the Teknaf police station while they were entering the Bangladesh in illegal way.”
The operation was led by BGB officer Toribur Rahaman of Dudum Meah BGB-outpost, according to BGB official.
Six Rohingyas including three women were arrested from the salt fields of Musoni area under the Teknaf police station. They tried to enter the Nayapara refugee camp, official more added.
Besides, other four Rohingyas were arrested from the Nayapara entry point by BGB members of Nayapara-outpost after being conducted operation the same day. The operation was also led by BGB officer Muzzemel, said an aide of BGB.
However, Lt. Col. Abu Jar Al Jahid from Teknaf Battalion No 42 confirmed that the arrested Rohingyas were pushed back to Burma after investigations.
According to local sources, some Rohingyas try to enter the Bangladesh from Burma for working because of jobless, restriction of movement and discrimination in Arakan State.
