Security force harass traveler on Shwezarr Bridge for so-called population data collection program

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Security guards-Burma border guard police- are harassing Rohingya travelers who cross the bridge for so-called population data collection program which was denied by Rohingya community of Maungdaw district, said  Mohamed Anwer, an elder from Shwezarr village.
The bridge security guards checked every traveler who are going to Market and back to their home, especially the Shwezarr villagers who frequently going to Maungdaw market in the morning and back to their village in the evening after they finished their work, Anwer said.

But, today the bridge security guards stopped all the travelers and asking to show their family list which had marked as participated the so-called population data collection program. If yes, the security guards allowed them to go, otherwise the bridge security guards kept the travelers and asking to bring the family list for processing of so-called population data collection program, Anwer more said.

Besides,  today, most of the female villagers of Labowzarr village are fleeing  from their village to a safe place which ever they thought as the army and Burma border guard police is hunting the villagers for defending against forced to participate the so-called population data collection program, said Hamid Hussion, an elder from the village.

Authority imposed so many restriction on Rohingyas’ social and livelihood – work, travel, education, marriage and health- which Rohingya need daily for their survival since the Rohingya denied to participate for so-called population data collection program, said Halim, a Human Rights Watch dog from Maungdaw.

The authority is going their highest harassment – killing, raping, arresting and looting – plans since August 28 and its beep up more after killing Rohingya on August 29, Halim said.
