Buthidaung, Arakan State: 28 houses, one mosque and one Madrasa were burnt down into ashes on April 2, at about 10: 30pm, at Dapine Saya village of Buthidaung Township, Arakan State, said Hamid Hussion, a villager who is eyewitness from the village. “The fire was starting from a house and spread to nearby houses and other structures including one mosque and one Madrasa (Religious school). Villagers were trying to extinguish the fire but in vain as the air were blowing very fast.”
Villagers of Dapine Saya lost everything in the fire, even they have nothing to eat. But neighboring villagers donated them rice, food, pots, clothes and other necessary things, said the village admin officer.
Now, some of the victims are living in their relatives’ houses and some are living in their old compound by making tents, said Ayas, a local elder from the village..
Till now, they do not receive anything from any quarter, even from Government, the local elder more added.
The next day, a group of police led by a police officer from Buthidaung Town went to the spot to observe the situation. However, the police arrested the family head of the house of originated fire and brought to Buthidaung.
