BGB push back twenty Rohingya to Burma

Teknaf, Bangladesh: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested twenty Rohingya and pushed back to Burma on August 7, 2015, according to BGB official of 42 Battalion, Teknaf.  “They were arrested from different entry points of Bangladesh-Burma border by BGB after being conducted operation when they crossed border illegally.”

According to sources, BGB arrested eight males, seven women and five children from the entry points of Zadimora and  Kharankhali under the Teknaf police station.

Lt. Col. Mohammed Abuzar Al Zahid from Teknaf Battalion No. 42 said, they were arrested by BGB on August 7 at about 1:00 pm while they crossed Bangladesh-Burma border illegally by row boats. Later on, they were pushed back to Burma by BGB the same day in the evening.

The Rohingya were sent back to Burma with the rowboats which they came to Bangladesh, the BGB official said.

Mostly Rohingya crossed the border through the entry points of Shapuridip, Noapara, Teknaf Zalia Para, Naitaung Para, Zadimora, Dumdum Meah, Nilla, Whykong and others, said a BGB officer.

When asked a local, Jamal Uddin said, “Rohingyas came to Bangladesh from Burma for medical treatment, visiting the refugee camps and some others came to find jobs in Bangladesh.”
