Burmese Yaba smuggler shot dead in Naff River

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) shot a Burmese citizen to death, who was allegedly involved in drug smuggling, and held another at water control sluice number-3 of Teknaf flood control embankment at Teknaf on early December 24, Jaffar, alocal trader from Teknaf.
The BGB also seized 30,000 Yaba tablets, ammunition and sharp weapons from them.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Dorbes, 20, a resident of village Dailpara of Moungdow township, Arakan, Burma and the arrested was identified as Mohammad Salimullah, 18, of the same village, according to BGB statement.

On being tipped off, a group of BGB members went to Naff River and hiding in one place and watching the smugglers’ approach at water control sluice number-3 of Teknaf flood control embankment at Teknaf at around 2:30 am, according to BGB officials.

BGB battalion-2 commanding officer Abu Jar Al Jahid said four people by a wooden boat anchored on bank of the River Naff while a BGB team from Teknaf sadar border outpost was patrolling on the flood control embankment.

As the BGB challenged them, they started firing at the BGB and the border force retaliated, where Darbesh smuggler was injured and two Yaba smugglers fled way after jumping to the Naff River. After that BGB went to the spot and found Salim Ullah with 30,000Yaba tablets worth Taka 9 million, the commanding officer more said.

Darbesh smuggler was admitted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital with bullet injuries where doctors declared him dead, said Athaur Rahaman Khandahhar, the Office-in-Charge (OC) of Teknaf.

The Yaba tablets and Salim Ullah was handed over to the Teknaf police station where a case was filed against Salim Ullah, The police officer more said.
